South Orange Middle School presents the annual My Black is Beautiful! A Celebration of Black History through the Arts. This vibrant and multifaceted event pays homage to the rich and diverse heritage of Black culture, achievements, and contributions. Serving as a powerful platform to showcase students’ various artistic expressions. This celebration engages music, dance, visual arts, literature, and more.

This event will feature music, poetry, and dance performances by students and guest artists as a way to celebrate Black culture, arts, and achievements. We anticipate attendance from students, parents, teachers, and members of the local community.

At SOMS, we recognize and affirm the identities of our racially and economically diverse student population. This performance is an impactful way to educate the SOMA community about the significant contributions of African Americans throughout history as well as celebrate our students’ talents. In order to make this event successful, we are seeking financial assistance from community sponsors. Your beneficial contributions will go directly towards covering event expenses, such as program printing, audio visual equipment, and other logistical needs. More importantly, your support and collaboration will allow us to continue to provide the SOMA community with cultural diversity events.
