We'll start with some piping practice with Royal Icing and then walk you and your child through decorating 3 cookies! Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor. 

You'll each walk away with your 3 decorated cookies and a Father's Day paint your own cookie to do at home (or in studio if you'd like)!

The Co-Lab - Beaded Butterfly Workshop - Part 2

Join Sandra Charlap for a SZA-inspired two-part micro mosaic butterfly workshop, where we’ll dive into the world of beadwork, color, and creative expression.

You’ll use glass seed beads, rhinestone chain, and specialty materials to create a one-of-a-kind butterfly that will be displayed like a scientific specimen in a beautiful 6x6” hand-decorated frame. All materials are provided in a curated kit, and Sandra will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.

Cost: $150 per person (Includes: 1 kit per person, 1 6x6” frame, a variety of leathers to choose as a backing and the use of acrylic paint pens for decorating frame.)

During the first class, Sandra will provide demonstrations and hands in instruction in designing and creating a stunning butterfly using glass seed beads, rhinestone chain and a variety of unique beads to create a one of a kind piece of art.

The second class will be a continuation of the first workshop but will focus on finishing details, choosing a backing, and decorating the frame. Sandra will assist in the display and finishing of the project.

Please note: this is not a ring-making class—you’ll be creating a framed flat butterfly, not jewelry!

You and your child will team up to make hand rolled
orecchiette - a traditional Italian pasta known for its fun, ear shaped form. Once the pasta is shaped to perfection, you’ll create a creamy tomato sauce with chicken to toss in it, learning tips for building balanced, flavorful sauces along the way. A book titled "On the Rocks" by Maria Costanzo Palmer, Joseph Costanzo Jr.'s daughter, chronicles the restaurant's rise and fall

Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own flowers if there are certain colors / objects you would like to use to print with. 

Linen napkins, totebags and a pair of white socks will be provided to hammer print on. 

Please note, you can bring your own objects to print, but if they are not mordanted, the print may not last as long as on the objects provided.

In this fun, beginner cake decorating class we'll be creating a 6" cake "pot" that will be adorned with a beautiful planting of frosted succulents and cacti!

During this workshop, each particpant will bedazzle their own room sign! Kids can hang it on their bedroom door or over their bed to add a little glitz and glamour to their room.

Particpants will each work on a wooden sign with their name pre-applied in vinyl letters. We'll do a quick bedazzling technique demo then the kids can choose their rhinestone colors and get to work. We'll also personalize the hanging string with beads.

North Jersey Pride, Inc. is a  501(c)3 dedicated to supporting LGBTQ youth and families through programming and events in the Garden State. We aim to inspire our larger ally community to get involved in the struggle for full equality and to join us in building a world where all young people feel safe, loved and accepted for who they are.

Indigo Road Studio - TRY IT CLASS

Spend the evening giving wheel-throwing a spin! Come on your own, with a friend, a family member or fun date - this is an open, friendly environment. If students decide to keep any pots created, the studio will trim, glaze and fire for a $15 fee per pot. Pots must be picked up within 60 days of the scheduled class otherwise the pot will be donated. Minimum Age: 16 years old. This 2 hour workshop introduces beginners to wheel throwing and gives you an opportunity to see what it feels like to throw on the pottery wheel and understand the process of wheel throwing.

The South Mountain YMCA Duck Race is on Memorial day, May 26 starting at 11am! Join the South Mountain YMCA on the banks of the river in Memorial Park and cheer your ducks to victory and prizes.

Each year, the Y selects, based on applications, a qualifying local non-profit to receive 20%, up to $5,000 of the proceeds, for the Ellie and Charlie Gianni Community Impact Grant. 

The South Mountain YMCA is proud to lead this event each year which enables families from our community access to childcare, summer camp, sports and enrichment classes and more through our Financial Assistance.

Chatterbox Books - Parent's Night Out

A drop-in activity for ages 3-11. While parents enjoy a well deserved night out, children will be engaged in a creative activity of storybook tell through puppets. In groups children will be guided through the process of selecting a book, designing their own character puppets, and performing a show for the kids present. Pictures and video will be taken for parents while they enjoy their time out. Kids can eat before they come or feel free to send them with a snack.
